The short version

Divided We Fail is an educational resource. We work hard to be accurate, but it is not legal, financial, or professional advice, and it is not an official government site. For anything that matters, such as a voting deadline or a court decision, check the official source. Use the site respectfully, and don’t copy our content without permission.

Agreeing to these terms

By using dividedwefail.com/ (the “Site”) or creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

What the Site is, and is not

The Site is a civic education resource that accompanies the book Divided We Fail. It explains how government works, presents data, and offers tools for finding your representatives and election information.

  • It is not an official government website and is not affiliated with any government agency, campaign, or political party.
  • It is not legal, financial, tax, or professional advice.
  • Official sources control. Election dates, deadlines, registration rules, court opinions, and legal text can change or be corrected. While we do our best to provide accurate information, use your official state election calendar or the primary source for final details.

Videos and outside content

Some pages include videos and links from other creators and organizations. Where a video presents one person’s argument on a subject people genuinely disagree about, we say so. Including something on the Site does not mean we endorse every claim in it, and we do not control outside websites.

Accounts and memberships

The Site offers a free Community Member account and a paid Solution Builder membership. Features included in each level are described on the Membership Levels page and may change over time.

  • You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for activity under your account. Please give us accurate information.
  • Solution Builder is a one-time payment, currently $49, not a subscription. The one-time payment gives access to Solution Builder features for as long as the Site continues to operate and offer that membership level.
  • Refunds: If Solution Builder isn’t what you expected, contact us within 14 days of your purchase for a full refund. After 14 days, purchases are final except where the law requires otherwise. A refund ends Solution Builder access, and your account returns to a free Community Member account.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms.

Using the Site

Please use the Site for lawful, respectful purposes. You agree not to:

  • share your account or resell or republish member-only content;
  • copy, scrape, or bulk-download the Site’s content or data, or use it to train commercial software, without written permission;
  • interfere with the Site’s operation or security, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use the lookup tools for harassment or for anything unlawful.

You may quote short excerpts with credit and a link back. Anything more needs permission.

Ownership

The Site’s original text, design, data presentations, and the book are owned by Eric Wood and protected by copyright. Public government records and works of others remain the property of their owners. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything to you.

Comments and messages

If you post a comment or send us feedback, you give us permission to display and use it in connection with the Site. Please do not post anything unlawful, threatening, or private about others. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Disclaimers

The Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of any kind.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending access

You may stop using the Site at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
