Local and state bodies set or administer minimum wages (where state law allows), economic-development deals, training programs, unemployment insurance and benefits delivery.

  • Find the right body: city council, county board, your regional workforce development board, or the state legislature. Their websites list meetings and public-comment rules.
  • Read one agenda and look for items on economic development, workforce, human services or the budget.
  • Give a short, specific comment: who you are, where you live, how the item affects people, and what you’re asking for. Written comments usually count too.
  • Come back. Steady, civil follow-up builds more influence than a single visit.
