Bus routes, frequency, and fares are set by local and regional transit agencies, usually with public hearings before major changes.

  • Find your transit agency’s board meeting schedule and any open comment periods on service changes or fares.
  • Be specific in your comments: which route, what time of day, and what trip it makes possible or impossible (a job, a clinic, a school).
  • Ask about reduced-fare programs for low-income riders, seniors, and people with disabilities, and help neighbors enroll.
  • Weigh in on your region’s long-range transportation plan, usually run by the metropolitan planning organization, which decides where money goes years out.
